OAKLAND — Brett Anderson’s first start after becoming a father went well for four innings.
Then the Texas Rangers knocked him out of the game with a five-run fifth and visitors went on to claim an 11-3 victory over the A’s in front of 11,854 fans.
While the A’s had won their previous five home games, Texas arrived having lost nine of 10.
Anderson became a father for the first time on Monday when his wife, Morgan, delivered their son Brody. The A’s had won seven of Anderson’s previous eight starts, and things looked good after Oakland took a 3-0 lead in the first inning.
