"While Mark's exceptional career on the field speaks for itself, he has recently separated himself as one of television's premier baseball analysts," said Ken Pries, A's vice president of communications and broadcasting, in a statement. "His addition to our award-winning broadcast crew will add another dimension to this season's A's telecasts."

In years past, former A's players Scott Hatteberg, Shooty Babitt and Eric Chavez have undertaken the 20-game gig. Ray Fosse, meanwhile, remains CSN California's primary A's analyst alongside play-by-play broadcaster Glen Kuiper. Fosse is entering his 28th season in that role.

Mulder was a two-time All-Star for the A's (2003, '04) and a member of the Cardinals' 2006 World Series championship team.
