Batterymate Jonathan Lucroy notched his first homer as an Athletic to help the cause, launching a solo shot off Arizona right-hander Zack Greinke in the third inning for a 1-0 lead.
Montas, making just the third start of his career and first since 2015 with the White Sox, carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning of his season debut, presumably doing enough to warrant another start in an injury-depleted A's rotation.
