KANSAS CITY — A day after scoring a season-high 19 runs on a season-high 22 hits, the A’s simmered down into a 2-1 win over the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday.
Mike Fiers extended his win streak to 11 games — dealing 5 1/3 innings, allowing one run in the sixth on eight hits.
Fiers departed the sixth inning with a runner on second, but Yusmeiro Petit got Bubba Starling to fly out and Meibrys Viloria out swinging at his curveball.
The A’s collected its two runs within the first two innings, first on Chad Pinder’s bases-loaded walk.
