Matt Williams leaving A’s for managerial position in Korea

Matt Williams is headed to Korea.

The A’s third base coach and go-to mentor for the A’s elite infield is reported to have agreed to a three-year deal to manage the Kia Tigers in the KBO League, per MLB Network’s Jon Heyman.

Williams served as the A’s third base coach for two years. He managed the Washington Nationals for the 2014 and 2015 seasons, winning NL Manager of the Year in 2014.

Eyes from MLB teams looking to fill positions are zeroed in on other members of the A’s coaching staff. Quality control coach Mark Kotsay and bench coach Ryan Christenson are reportedly picking up steam in the managerial market.
