SAN FRANCISCO — The A’s split this two-game star to the Bay Bridge series, claiming a 9-5 win over the Giants on Wednesday afternoon.
Homer Bailey had started two games on the road (against Houston and the Chicago Cubs) and allowed 16 runs between them. In three home starts he’d allowed just seven earned runs.
Oracle Park provided a strange gray area, an away game with a unique kind of home field feel. He certainly pitched like he had most home games with the A’s, holding the Giants to two hits over seven shutout innings. It was his best start as an Athletic.
