For the first time in his career, Marcus Semien is on the disabled list. The A’s shortstop will have to sit out at least 10 days - but it could be much longer if the scaphoid bone in his right wrist is broken.
Semien’s wrist has been immobilized for two days and he will get a CT scan Monday; the A’s called up middle infielder Chad Pinder from Triple-A Nashville to help fill in.
“I don’t know any guy who would take this well, I want to be on the field no matter what,” said Semien, who has been playing through wrist discomfort since spring training.
