Manaea's pitching, Valencia's hot bat help A's complete sweep

OAKLAND -- Sean Manaea's best major-league outing to date all but eclipsed Danny Valencia's ongoing offensive tear Wednesday as the A's completed a three-game sweep of the Minnesota Twins with a 5-1 victory at the Coliseum.

Manaea allowed just one run and five hits in six innings to earn his second major-league win before a crowd of 11,345. The rookie left-hander, who was called up from Triple-A Nashville on April 29, struck out eight batters, walked three and lowered his ERA from 7.03 to a less ghastly 6.16.More importantly, Manaea (2-3) repeatedly pitched his way out of trouble as the A's won their fifth straight game.
