MESA, Ariz. -- A's top pitching prospect Sean Manaea racked up seven strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings against the White Sox on Sunday, but Chicago pulled out a 6-2 victory at Hohokam Stadium with help from a pair of home runs from outfielder Jerry Sands.
Sands' two-run homer off Manaea in the first inning was one of three hits allowed by the left-hander, whose Cactus League ERA sits at 2.61 following four appearances, including three starts. Sands also homered in the seventh, clubbing a solo shot off A's Minor Leaguer Zach Neal.
