SAN FRANCISCO -- A's second baseman Jed Lowrie departed Friday night's game against the Giants in the middle of the fifth inning after a collision in the field.
Lowrie, backpedaling into right field to snag a popup off the bat of Alen Hanson in the third, ran into Stephen Piscotty and appeared to injure his left leg in the process.
The newly named All-Star remained on the ground for a short time and drew a visit from A's head athletic trainer Nick Paparesta, ultimately electing to remain in the game.
