OAKLAND — The way Lou Trivino performed last season as a rookie he would have been fine keeping things the same. Yet four games into the 2019 season, Trivino appears to have added even more nastiness on the mound.
“It makes him from unfair to really unfair,” A’s manager Bob Melvin said.
Trivino made a decision this spring to integrate his changeup into games more often. He has five pitches in his repertoire having been a starter earlier in his minor league career, but the changeup was a pitch he abandoned once he was called up to Oakland in 2018.
