Kurtenbach: Why the magical A’s need to find another level of sorcery

The A’s have a stable of starting pitchers that could be put together to form one of the best rotations in baseball.

The problem is that most of those starting pitchers are injured.

This week, the A’s have added two more pitchers to their long and downright impressive list of injured and out-of-commision starters: ace Sean Manaea’s season is in jeopardy after he was diagnosed with rotator-cuff tendentious, and Brett Anderson — who posted a 1.86 ERA in his six starts prior to Monday’s poor outing against the Astros — was placed on the 10-day DL Tuesday with forearm tightness.
