The Oakland A’s will have at least one prominent player in the 2017 World Baseball Classic, as slugger Khris Davis will suit up for Team Mexico, according to Jon Morosi.
The Southern California native’s mother is from Mexico, which makes him eligible for the squad. A’s beat writer Jane Lee did a profile on Sonia Alarcon back in May.
Davis won’t be the only Oakland player in the WBC. Renato Nunez, a hitting prospect who made his MLB debut in September, will be part of Team Venezuela. Check out this loaded roster:
Last spring, in WBC qualifying, catcher Bruce Maxwell played for Team Germany, the country of his birth (where his army father was stationed).
