OAKLAND — Khris Davis is no stranger to home runs. He blasted 42 of them last season for the A’s. But a home run in Wednesday’s 9-1 blowout over the Texas Rangers added Davis to an exclusive club in Oakland history.
Davis joined Jason Giambi, Jermaine Dye and Reggie Jackson as the only players to hit seven home runs in the club’s first 15 games. The history-making came in the fifth inning when he crushed a two-run home run off reliever Mike Hauschild to extend Oakland’s lead to 6-1. The two-run shot was his seventh of the year and tied Davis with Houston’s George Springer and Milwaukee’s Eric Thames for the major league lead.
