For the second year in a row, the A’s do not have a veteran starter. Last season, the team did at least have an All-Star, Sonny Gray, to lead the rotation. Now Gray is in New York - and Kendall Graveman, with three years of service time, is the man the rest of the staff will look to.
Graveman, at 27, is up for the challenge.
“I try to express to these young guys that, ‘Hey, I came into spring one year seventh or eighth on the depth chart and ended up breaking camp with the team,’ ” Graveman said at Hohokam Stadium.
