Jonny Gomes won't get to meet President Barack Obama (again) as part of the Kansas City Royals contingent set to visit the White House this week.
The Petaluma native and former A's outfielder played 12 games with the Royals last season after being traded to Kansas City from the Atlanta Braves. The Royals restricted the attendees to full-season players or those who made the postseason roster, which Gomes did not. Still, his patriotism is well-known and he was apparently hard-hit by the development."I've been sent down. I've been non-tendered, whatever," Gomes told Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports. "But this is probably the worst news of my professional baseball career.
