After coming over from the Indians for slugger Brandon Moss before the 20145 season, Joey Wendle fell off the radar a bit.
Other players were called up to second base - Tyler Ladendorf, Max Muncy, Chad Pinder - before Wendle finally got a shot last week, called up when Coco Crisp was traded. The 26-year-old has opened up some eyes, since, and Friday, in the A’s 3-2 loss to the Mariners, Wendle hit in Crisp’s old leadoff spot.
He opened up the first with a single, and in the fifth, Wendle drove in Oakland’s first run with a base hit up the middle.
