PEORIA, Ariz. — With each A’s starting pitcher entering their third start of the Cactus League, manager Bob Melvin is at the point where he’d like to start seeing more consistent outings from the staff, no pitcher more so than Jharel Cotton.
Even two good spring starts in a row from Cotton would be a positive sign at this juncture for Melvin.
“That’ll be key for him. We all know he’s got the stuff,” Melvin said. “It’s just going out there and trying to repeat it and get on a roll.”
It hasn’t happened yet, but Cotton is halfway there.
