HOUSTON — Like most A’s fans on selection Sunday, Jed Lowrie was surprised when the call to let him know he’d made his first All-Star team never came.
There is strong belief that Lowrie would be likely selected as the injury replacement to Gleyber Torres, who is currently on the disabled list with a hip strain, the second baseman doesn’t believe it should have ever gotten to this point.
“I guess I’m still hopeful,” Lowrie said. “I’m disappointed that I didn’t win the player vote. But I’ll just let my numbers speak for themselves.”
Those numbers are pretty loud.
