ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Jaycob Brugman learned for himself Friday night that there are baseball fields, and then there’s Tropicana Field.
Not only is the Rays’ home one of the only two fields in the Major Leagues with artificial surface, it’s a dome with no roof. The upper parts of the dome are connected by a series of catwalks, none of which most of us would ever cheerfully walk on.
The lower catwalks are in play, and for the uninitiated, it can make for an interesting experience.
For Brugman, the A’s outfielder, his Major League debut came complete with a catwalk initiation.
