MESA, Ariz. - Jaff Decker was right on the cusp of winning an A’s roster spot, but now an oblique strain might hamper his chance.
“Those things are tough to forecast,” manager Bob Melvin said of Decker’s prognosis. “For sure it will be a few days, we’ll have a better idea (Monday or Tuesday). It’s unfortunate: He was having a good camp, he was impressing. There’s still a spot to be won out there whatever potentially the 25th spot is, the 12th or 13th spot as far as the position players go.”
Melvin said if Decker misses just a few days, the injury shouldn’t impact his chances much.
