OAKLAND – After seemingly setting the stage for another night of disappointment, the A’s instead pulled a surprise Saturday night.
They erased a one-run deficit by tying the game in the ninth, then won it on Stephen Vogt’s walk-off single in the bottom of the 10th that beat the Minnesota Twins 3-2 before a charged-up crowd at the Coliseum.
The winning rally was set up by the speed of leadoff man Billy Burns. He knocked a double to right-center to lead off the inning, then stole third to put the winning road 90 feet away with no outs.
