OAKLAND — It took a half-inning longer than expected, but the A’s registered a dramatic victory Friday night.
A two-out rally finished with Billy Burns’ walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth, and the A’s claimed a 3-2 victory over the Los Angeles Angels before a fireworks night crowd at the Coliseum.
It appeared the A’s had won the game in the top of the ninth, when right fielder Jake Smolinski made what was originally ruled a diving catch of Daniel Nava’s liner, then threw to first to double off Todd Cunningham for the final out of the game.
