OAKLAND — They say spring training stats do not mean much. But in the case of certain A’s players, the numbers either made or broke their case to make the Opening Day roster.
The A’s 25-man roster was not as difficult a puzzle to predict at the start of spring training as it has been in years past. There isn’t much to change when you are coming off a 97-win season.
The few question marks that did exist were on the pitching side, both in the bullpen and starting rotation. Pitchers who were once considered locks fell behind in what was an expedited Cactus League for the A’s due to their trip to Japan.
