MESA, Ariz. — Marco Estrada was just like the rest of baseball watching the A’s from afar in 2018 — amazed at how they constantly found ways to win games. But it was a first-hand experience that helped sell him on the idea of signing with them.
It was May 18 of last season. This was before the A’s were a serious playoff contender. They were right at .500 (22-22) in Toronto on the back-end of a tough Eastern swing that already had stopped in New York and Boston.
Estrada drew the start that night for the Blue Jays, and he found out just how good the A’s offense was.
