MESA, Ariz. — A’s pitcher Andrew Triggs was well aware of how long it’s been since the last time he pitched in an actual baseball game.
Triggs kept the date of his last start, June 9, engraved in his mind. It was soon after that start when he underwent season-ending surgery on his left hip.
Triggs had entered spring feeling fully recovered from the hip injury during fielding drills and bullpen sessions, but Saturday’s game against the Padres was his first chance to test it out in a real game. The results were positive.
“It’s reassuring for sure,” Triggs said.
