Hot-hitting Jed Lowrie ejected; A’s manager Bob Melvin, too

NEW YORK - Jed Lowrie entered Saturday riding a seven-game hitting streak during which he was batting .552 and seeing the ball especially well, he said before the game.

He then struck out looking three times in the A’s 3-2 loss at Yankee Stadium, and grew increasingly frustrated with the erratic calls by home-plate Will Little; Statcast showed several called strikes clearly out of the zone during Lowrie’s at-bats.

“All I’m going to say is I got the bat taken out of my hands three times today,” Lowrie said.

After his third K, against Tyler Clippard in the eighth, Lowrie complained so vociferously that he was ejected for the first time in his career.
