Chad Pinder has homered four times in the past eight games, and yet the rookie’s location to start Tuesday night’s game against Miami will be on the bench.
Pinder, a right-handed hitting utility player, got more playing time than usual in the Boston series because the A’s faced three left-handed starters, but Yonder Alonso (who missed four games with a slight knee sprain) and Stephen Vogt (who sat against the lefty starters) are both back in the lineup Tuesday.
Another right-handed often-platoon player, Mark Canha, is in the lineup, in center.
