Henderson Alvarez’s season will end without the right-hander ever taking the mound for the A’s.
The A’s signed the 2014 All-Star before the season in the hopes that he would make a full recovery from his July, 2015, shoulder surgery, and at one point, he was being targeted to join the rotation in May.
