Other major-league teams might see the Coliseum as an antiquated, broken-down bowl of gray alongside Interstate 880. The A’s view their ballpark as the beautiful source of a precious jewel: Wins.
Fresh off a disheartening road trip, the A’s righted their wobbly ship Thursday night with an 8-3 home victory over Boston. Sonny Gray pocketed his first win of the season and Jed Lowrie, Khris Davis and Chad Pinder all smacked home runs before 12,016 spectators.
The victory pushed the A’s to 12-8 this season at the Coliseum. They’re 6-15 away from home, the second-worst road record in the majors (behind Philadelphia).
