ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Center fielder Ramon Laureano hit a tie-breaking grand slam in the eighth inning Wednesday, lifting the A’s past the Tampa Bay Rays 6-2 and bringing their 10-game trip to a successful conclusion.
The A’s (35-34) finished 6-4 on the three-city road trip, while taking two of three games against Tampa Bay, which entered the day tied for first place with the New York Yankees in the American League East.
Laureano, who was 2-for-4 with five RBIs, sent a 2-2 offering from Rays reliever Colin Poche into the left center field bleachers for his first career grand slam.
