Good news about Josh Reddick's thumb and Henderson Alvarez's shoulder are coming out of pre-game tweets from Oakland A's beat writers Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle and John Hickey of the Bay Area News Group.
Initial estimates for Reddick's broken thumb were for a four to six week absence and Alvarez was taken out of his last rehab start an inning early with shoulder discomfort. But after Reddick saw a hand specialist today and Alvarez had his MRI reviewed by Dr. James Andrews, it appears their absences will not be prolonged:
#Athletics Josh Reddick fractured thumb is not in joint but near the tip, which = about 4 weeks of recovery, toward low end of expectations
