Lead unexpectedly by Zach Neal and Jake Smolinski, the A's squeaked out a narrow victory in tonight's game by a final score of 2-1 on Jewish Heritage Night. The life-long minor league starter, primarily relegated to the A's bullpen in a mop-up role, stepped up big time in his second start of the season by pitching 5+ innings of one run baseball and just two hits allowed. The A's offense couldn't do much today, but did just enough on three consecutive hits and a sacrifice fly in the third inning and practiced good patience in the latter half of the game against a strong Orioles' bullpen in order to secure the victory.
Game #113: A's 2, Orioles 1
