Michael Nolan, a former A's minor league pitcher who was the victim of a drive-by shooting last month in New York, died Friday.
The Yonkers native was drafted by Oakland in the 18th round of the 2014 draft. He did not appear in any games while in the A's system and retired last year, though he remained on the team's restricted list.
According to media reports, Nolan, 23, was shot in the head and torso Sept. 18 while standing in the parking lot of a Burger King in Yonkers, and he had remained in a medically-induced coma ever since.
