Former Athletics players were not happy about the letter John Fisher, the team’s reclusive, despised team owner, sent to fans through email just two days before the ball club’s last-ever game in Oakland.
No one appeared to be more upset at the attempted PR stunt than former pitcher Trevor May, who played one season for the A’s last year and got the final out in last year’s “reverse boycott” game. May accused Fisher of using a ghostwriter to pretend he understood the team’s history, and called the letter from the man responsible for moving the A’s out of Oakland “disrespectful.
