Dave Henderson, the 14-year major league veteran who spent seven years playing in the Bay Area, died Sunday at the age of 57.
The news of Henderson's passing was first reported by USA Today.
The Oakland A's, whom Henderson played for from 1988 to 1993, released a statement Sunday morning:
The A’s are saddened to hear of the passing of Dave Henderson. Henderson was an instrumental part of the A’s 1989 World Series Championship club and an even more impactful member of the A’s family and community. Hendu and his smile will be sorely missed.
