A pair of former Oakland Athletics are among 16 new names on the 2020 Baseball Hall of Fame Ballot, the MLB announced.
Longtime third baseman Eric Chavez and slugger Jason Giambi make their first appearance on ballots this year — along with possible first-ballot player Derek Jeter. They have 10 years to garner at least 75 percent of the votes before their names are kicked off the ballot.
Giambi joins a ballot already clogged with names mired by controversy. Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Sammy Sosa — stuck in PED limbo — are in their final years of candidacy.
