OAKLAND – The A’s had the opportunity to get well Wednesday. They didn’t.
With the chance for a therapeutic sweep after 23 consecutive series without one, they lost 7-5 when Josh Donaldson homered off rookie Frankie Montas in the 10th inning with a man aboard.
Oakland had the chance to get within periscope distance of .500 if they could have pulled this one off, but instead they’ll take a 26-33 record into a Thursday off day as they head across country to set up for a four-game weekend series against Tampa Bay. Oakland tried to rally in the bottom of the 10th, getting one run on a double from Rajai Davis and a Matt Joyce single before running out of steam.
