OAKLAND — Hunter Pence slept in his own bed in San Francisco Sunday, got a good night’s sleep, then headed out for a cup of coffee in the morning.
“Nobody recognized me though,” Pence said Monday before the Texas Rangers opened a three-game series against the Oakland Athletics. “They already forgot.”
Not likely, given Pence’s contributions to two World Series championships as a member of the Giants. After hitting .224 with two home runs and 24 RBIs last season in limited time, Pence departed as a free agent with the Giants making no effort to sign him.
