Mets general manager Sandy Alderson, who built the A’s last World Series championship team, announced Tuesday he’s taking a leave of absence while undergoing treatment for cancer.
The 70-year-old Alderson said his undisclosed, treatable form of cancer returned in April and he’s currently undergoing chemotherapy.
“You got to deal with it,” Alderson said at a press conference. “It’s a matter of rearranging priorities.”
Alderson was first diagnosed with cancer in 2015, after the Mets were beaten by the Royals in the World Series.
