Count one very famous Las Vegas resident as completely disinterested in the new baseball team coming to town.
In two separate interviews published Thursday morning, Phillies star Bryce Harper threw a wet blanket on the idea of the Oakland A’s moving to his hometown.
“I feel sorry for the fans in Oakland,’’ Harper told USA Today. “It’s just not right. They have so much history in Oakland. You’re taking a team out of a city. I’m pretty sad. … I see the A’s as Oakland. I don’t see them as Vegas.’’
Both Harper and his Philadelphia teammate, fellow Vegas native and resident Bryson Stott, said they would prefer an expansion team, if anything.
