OAKLAND — Eric Chavez is perhaps the only third baseman in A’s history that rivaled the magic that Matt Chapman produces on defense on a daily basis, so it was only right the former A’s star was in the building to see club’s current star presented with his Gold Glove.
Chapman was honored with his Gold and Platinum Glove Awards earned for the 2018 season, with Chavez presenting him both awards before Friday’s Opening Night game against the Los Angeles Angels. The A’s then honored Chavez before Friday’s Opening Night game against the Los Angeles Angels by having him throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
