2024 has arguably been the worst year ever for us A’s fans, with the organization’s relocation plans solidifying—at least to the point of leaving Oakland, where the final games at the Coliseum are now relegated to history.

Now, the brightest star in Oakland’s A’s history is gone. At just 65, Rickey Henderson passed away in Oakland on Friday. He would have turned 66 on Christmas. Rickey’s death has shocked the baseball world, with fellow players, managers, executives, and journalists offering an outpouring of tributes and fond memories of the first ballot Hall of Fame inductee and greatest leadoff hitter and base stealer of all time.
