The Oakland Athletics pulled off a comeback for the ages Thursday by outlasting the Colorado Rockies 10-9 in 11 innings. After allowing four runs to start the 11th, the A’s entered their final at-bat trailing 9-5. They scored five times in the 11th, including a game-tying, two-run home run by JJ Bleday. A bases loaded walk by Tyler Soderstrom finally brought the game to an end.
The A’s started the season 14-17 through the end of April and while that might not be a great mark, it was much better than many were expecting for a team that had so much off the field baggage coming into the season.
