Good morning, Athletics Nation!
With MLB’s first big coronavirus scare appearing to be contained, and especially the Miami Marlins back on the field playing games, we can shift our attention to another ongoing drama: The Oakland A’s ballpark project and it general relationship with local politics.
In the latest chapter, the A’s have filed a lawsuit against the California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) seeking environmental justice against Schnitzer Steel, which has a metal shredding facility near the site of the proposed new Howard Terminal ballpark.
The suit is in regard to the DTSC’s alleged failure to properly regulate Schnitzer’s operations over the span of decades.
