Dustin Fowler remains firmly in the A’s plans, manager Bob Melvin said Friday, but the team “wasn’t doing him any favors” keeping him on the bench.
With Nick Martini’s emergence the past two weeks, Fowler, 3 for his past 32, was sent down after Wednesday’s game and Ramón Laureano, on a tear at Triple-A Nashville, was called up Friday and was set to make his big-league debut, batting ninth and playing center.
