Eleven months after his first big-league game, Dustin Fowler finally got his first big-league at-bat.
So no more comparisons with Moonlight Graham, who famously played one inning in 1905 but never got to hit.
Fowler’s at-bat wasn’t exactly how he envisioned it when he suited up June 29 for his major-league debut with the Yankees. Fowler didn’t make it out of the first inning because of a knee injury that began a series of events that landed him in the A’s organization.
Fowler was called up from Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday and popped to second as a pinch-hitter in the seventh inning, and the A’s lost 4-1 to the Astros, who completed a three-game sweep.
