OAKLAND — Dustin Fowler was disappointed, and understandably so, when he was optioned at the start of August by the A’s to Triple-A Nashville.
He’s back now, though, and has a role — for the time being — as the A’s chase a spot in the postseason.
Fowler will lead off and play left field on Friday against the Seattle Mariners and will be the A’s left-handed leadoff hitter for the next few days, manager Bob Melvin said. To make room for Fowler, Frankie Montas was optioned back to Triple-A.
Fowler hit .379 with 10 doubles, three triples, a home run and 11 RBI in 25 games with the Sounds following his August 1 option.
