Not surprisingly, A’s reliever Sean Doolittle was frustrated and angry when he landed on the disabled list this week with a strained left shoulder.
This time, though, Doolittle found hope in his MRI exam. Unlike past shoulder trouble involving his rotator cuff and labrum, the MRI showed no structural problems. The diagnosis of an interior shoulder strain leaves Doolittle “encouraged” about his chances of avoiding another lengthy absence.
“Obviously, it’s incredibly frustrating,” he said before Friday night’s game against Detroit. “One of the silver linings is it’s different than anything I’ve dealt with before, both in the way it feels and what the MRI showed.
