Davis takes BP, but quad strain keeps him out

OAKLAND -- A's first baseman Ike Davis, who exited Monday night's series opener against the Red Sox with a left quad strain, was held out of Tuesday's starting lineup but was considered available off the bench.

Rookie Max Muncy drew the start at first base, marking just his third start since being promoted April 25. He entered the day 4-for-14.

Davis participated in batting practice Tuesday, as did Ben Zobrist for the first time since undergoing left knee surgery.
